UPPER SCHOOL (GRADES 9-12) FOOTBALL – ASSISTANT COACH
Pace Academy is an independent college preparatory school in Atlanta, Ga., with an enrollment of 1,150 students in Pre-First through 12th grade. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working closely with the head football coach, the assistant football coach is responsible for supporting various aspects of the football program, such as program development, training and coaching. The coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Pace Academy and Georgia High School Association (GHSA).
Duties include:
Daily team coaching alongside the coaching staff
Driving players to/from practices, as needed
Representing Pace Academy and the football program in a professional manner and within the bounds of good sportsmanship
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possesses and maintains a coaching philosophy that is in accordance with the mission of Pace Academy
Coaching experience and a solid understanding of how to work with student-athletes in grades nine through 12
Demonstrates a strong commitment to the student-athlete concept
Effective leadership and coaching skills
Employs good communication skills with players, parents/caregivers and the Office of Athletics
Is energetic, self-motivated, flexible, punctual, dependable and a team player
WORK HOURS AND EXPECTATIONS:
A part-time, seasonal, summer/fall season appointment. On/off-campus responsibilities range from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. (summer; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) and 3:15 until 6:15 p.m. (fall; Monday through Friday and some Sundays). All coaches are employed on an annual basis, and continued employment is based on annual performance and/or departmental need, which are evaluated by the Director of Athletics.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Standing and walking for extended periods of time during practices and meets
Able to squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, reach forward and repeat the same hand motion often
Coaching in all weather extremes, including heat, cold, rain and/or snow
Long hours during the competitive season
Light to moderate lifting
