The Position
Versant is seeking a seasoned Senior Director, Washington D.C. Operations, to lead technical and bureau operations management for our Washington, D.C. news bureau. This leader will oversee people, facilities, and technology supporting studio and field production for MSNBC and CNBC, ensuring operational excellence across daily live production in one of the nation’s most dynamic media environments.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge, exceptional organizational skills, and a forward-looking mindset to improve quality, efficiency, and scalability in production workflows.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee technical operations and bureau operations management for Versant's Washington, D.C. news bureau
Manage production resources (people, facilities, and technology) supporting studio and field production for MSNBC and CNBC
Coordinate among Operations & Technology teams, editorial, and production to deliver efficient, reliable daily content across multiple brands and platforms
Manage production support functions across a dynamic news bureau, including daily live studio shows, multiple live hits from the bureau, and coverage from key Washington D.C. locations such as the White House, Capitol Hill, and the Department of Justice
Facilitate seamless integration of frequent guest appearances in live broadcasts across multiple platforms
Optimize schedules to maximize efficiency in crew deployment and production resource utilization
Drive adoption of new production technologies and workflows to enhance quality, reduce marginal costs, and enable new creative opportunities
Support multi-platform production, including linear TV, streaming, digital, and audio formats
Foster a culture of operational excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement across production teams
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in production operations, including live studio or control room environments
Strong knowledge of live broadcast and digital production systems, workflows, and technology trends
Ability to manage complex, multi-platform production in a fast-paced news environment
Track record of optimizing operational efficiency through scheduling, process improvements, and technology adoption
Collaborative leadership style with the ability to build strong partnerships across editorial, engineering, and operations teams
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment while maintaining high production standards

Fully Onsite: This position has been designated as fully onsite, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a Versant worksite 5 days a week.

Salary range: $160,000 - $190,000 (bonus and long-term incentive eligible)
