The West Coast Eagles is an iconic Australian sporting brand with over 100,000 members. The Club formed in August 1986, playing its first official match for premiership points in 1987. Our women’s side played its first game for AFLW premiership points in February 2020. Since then, the club has enjoyed significant success, winning premierships in 1992, 1994, 2006 and 2018. The club also has wide-spanning community and regional programs and is invested in a number of charity organisations, including the Waalitj Foundation.

About the role

The role is based in Bunbury/Busselton and is responsible for engaging with members and sponsors, leading the strategic direction, stakeholder collaboration and program supervision of community programs within the City of Bunbury, City of Busselton and across the broader South West region.

Reporting to the Manager Regional Programs, this role will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with coordination, development and delivery of the club’s education and early childhood programs. This includes classroom and practical football delivery in schools.
  • Coordinating and delivering the club’s game development programs including the Naitanui Academy, Women & Girls Academy, and 2nd Generation Academy.
  • Coordinating community initiatives and after school activities to engage local youth.
  • Coordinating the delivery of member programs in the south west.
  • Supporting the execution of West Coast Eagles AFL Community Camp and the associated community engagement opportunities.
  • Supporting the strengthening of relationships with stakeholders in the region.
  • Supporting Auskick and Junior Football in the region.

There will be travel to Perth and other regions to assist with club events and programs. Due to the nature of the industry and this role, there is an inherent requirement to work home match days and other club events which will include working some evenings and weekends.

Our ideal person

This role is ideal for an individual with a passion for building relationships that has extensive knowledge of the AFL and West Coast Eagles, to promote community engagement and the Club’s Community and Game Development programs. Additionally, it would be ideal if you had:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including high proficiency in public speaking and presenting clinics, workshops, and events.
  • High level of initiative with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to successfully develop and implement programs and projects.
  • Experience working with local government and relevant agencies.
  • Knowledge of the youth in the South West region.
  • Tertiary qualification in Education or relevant field, or extensive experience in the community and youth development sector.
