Salary Range: $40,000 - $90,000. The position on the scale will be based on years of teaching experience and education.

The First Program at the Dalton School seeks a full-time 2nd Grade House Advisor (Head Teacher) for a 4-month leave replacement to join the faculty beginning in the fall of the 2026-27 school year. The ideal candidate understands progressive education and has prior lead teacher experience with child-centered, differentiated curricula. The ideal candidate also brings a self-reflective nature and positive attitude to the classroom and greater community, and looks forward to overseeing an academically rigorous, creative classroom that validates and supports each child. Excellent communication skills, a passion for working with young children and their families, the willingness to collaborate and reflect on one's practice, and a sense of humor are essential. In addition, candidates should be fully invested in supervising and mentoring an Associate Teacher, helping her/him/them become experienced in all areas of life in a classroom.
