Job Description

NBCU Local is reimagining storytelling for the next generation of local news watchers, delivering local content to English and Spanish-speaking audiences in 31 U.S. TV markets and Puerto Rico. We are comprised of NBC Owned Television Stations, NBC Sports Regional Networks and Telemundo Station Group – plus multicast networks COZI TV and TeleXitos, regional cable news network NECN, and 16 free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels – including 11 NBC local news, four Telemundo regional news channels.

The NBCU Local Technology & Operations organization provides the Technology & Workflow Solutions, Support, Media Operations, Production, Studio and Facilities services that power NBCU Local content creation and distribution.

Responsibilities:

The Media Operations Specialist will perform a variety of media operations tasks in support of KXAS/KXTX in Fort Worth. These tasks will encompass Media Ingest, Records, Live Streaming, Quality Control, and Media Asset Management as well as basic support functions for the Newsroom Content System.

Job Responsibilities

Perform quality control of all incoming and outgoing video/audio feeds, including adjusting and setting correct levels for live reporter hits.
Ingest all material into the newsroom production system, including both file-based and baseband content from a variety of router sources and systems.
Utilize basic knowledge of bonded cellular, IP video streams, satellite, and microwave technologies to monitor and manage feeds.
Transcode media using provided tools; ensure files are compatible and ready for use by newsroom staff.
Troubleshoot and route video feeds in real time during live or time-sensitive events.
Maintain day-to-day oversight of digital media on shared servers, ensuring proper metadata tagging, naming conventions, and file integrity.
Push finalized media to on-air playback systems and verify correct operation.
Monitor and manage media storage capacity, performing regular maintenance and purging outdated files.
Address and escalate newsroom system issues; work collaboratively with IT teams and external vendors for resolution.
Provide training and support to newsroom staff (e.g. Content Producers, Platform Managers, Assignment Managers, Digital Media, Creative Services, Photographers, Reporters) on system usage and best practices.
Selectively archive rundown elements and validate file integrity for future use.
Deliver first-tier support for newsroom systems and provide high-level customer service to internal users.
Provide basic editing support using Adobe Premiere for daily content needs.
Ingest and manage topical media content for same-day air.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of experience in post-production workflows, including media acquisition, management, and playback.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
Working knowledge of basic computer networking, Microsoft Remote Desktop, and general IT systems.

Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.

Desired Skills and Experience:

Strong understanding of broadcast news workflows and technologies, including non-linear editing (Adobe Premiere).
Experience in media ingesting, trimming, migration, playback, and archival, with a focus on accurate metadata tagging and naming conventions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
Quick learner with the ability to adapt to a wide range of technical tools and workflows.
Ability to perform under tight deadlines and high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
