 JOB SUMMARY:  This person will be responsible for overseeing their assigned StarCenter facility.  The General Manager (“GM”) is responsible for overseeing the operation of a year-round, twin-sheet ice facility to ensure optimal operational and fiscal management. The GM must work closely with and be responsible for the facility’s management staff and have the ability to step in and manage each area if the need arises. The GM will be required to invest the time necessary to ensure all aspects of the facility run efficiently and smoothly. This position is not eligible for remote work. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee day to day operations of facility including ice scheduling, staff scheduling/meetings, cash handling, etc.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with the community and local organizations
  • Drive new business and revenue growth 
  • Responsible for community public relations and patron satisfaction
  • Monitor building security, custodial maintenance, and emergency supplies and equipment to ensure a clean, safe facility for customers and staff
  • Review and approve monthly profit & loss, forecast revenue and expenses, and draft fiscal budgets to be reviewed and approved by supervisor and President & CEO 
  • Negotiate and manage all facility related contracts


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Liaise with supervisor and General Counsel on relevant legal matters
  • Oversee all marketing initiatives within the StarCenter facility including digital marketing efforts
  • Work with Corporate Partnership department on sponsorship fulfillment


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College degree or equivalent experience is required
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of rink management experience 
  • US Ice Rink Association CIT, CRA, CIRM preferred
  • Proven history of training and developing successful programs
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Willingness to learn new programs and try new initiatives
  • Must be able to deal with multiple tasks simultaneously 
  • Proven organizational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with customers
  • Must be able to effectively manage up and down the organizational chart
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and special events
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player 
  • Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and Outlook


Physical Demands and Working Environment 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an office environment, with noise levels usually moderate.

Salary Description
$85,000 annually
