Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

The Manager, Sports Programming Finance will report to the VP Finance and work as a part of the Sports Programming Finance team which includes tentpole properties including Sunday Night Football, NBA, PGA Tour, Big 10, Premiere League, The US Open, Ryder Cup, and Notre Dame Football. This role will manage budgets, forecasts, P&Ls, and collaborate with teams across NBCU.

Programming Finance:

Work cross-functionally with internal finance teams to drive end-to-end financial ownership of programming content
Lead internal programming finance processes, including pacing updates (2–3 times per quarter), including consolidation and variance analysis
Collaborate with senior leaders in Programming and Production as a strategic finance partner, aligning cross-business initiatives to optimize budget planning, and support financial target achievement
Coordinate with the Controllership team to ensure accurate accounting
Provide ad-hoc financial support for NBC programming initiatives
Support monthly and quarterly close process including variance analysis, management reporting and summaries

Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications

BA/BS Degree in finance/accounting or related field
5+ years relevant experience in finance/accounting, prior FP&A experience preferred
Proficient in use of SAP/BW/BPC or similar accounting software
Proficient in Windows environment; Advanced Excel skills

Desired Characteristics

Demonstrated ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to senior management
Excellent time management skills; ability to meet deadlines on short notice
Team player with a positive attitude. Role requires frequent collaboration with finance peers as well as counterparts in research, programming, scheduling, ad sales, marketing, etc.
Role is based in Stamford CT

Hybrid: This role is designated as hybrid generally contributing from the office a minimum of 4 days a week (Mon-Thurs).
