Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

The Strategic Analytics & Content Optimization team is a critical part of the NBCU Decision Sciences organization that leverages data of all kinds to support major strategic initiatives and executive presentations across diverse disciplines such as Content, Marketing and more. This role works closely with relevant Content Analytics, Consumer Insights and Content Strategy counterparts to turn business and consumer intelligence into tangible business outcomes across Peacock, NBC, and Bravo.

Reporting to the SVP of Strategic Analytics & Content Optimization, the Director will act as an analytical thought leader, supporting data-driven workstreams that shape strategy across a variety of project types including: maximizing cross-portfolio content value, identifying content optimization and emerging content opportunities, analyzing competitor streaming performance, windowing optimization, and supporting the development of executive presentations.

The individual must be intellectually curious, an excellent communicator, well-versed in working with large data sets, knowledgeable about the Linear & Streaming TV landscapes inclusive of Sports & Entertainment, comfortable presenting to senior executives and stakeholders across the organization, experienced assembling robust business cases, and building consensus across large, complex organizations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Transform data into action by using a combination of first- and third-party data sets, as well as business and consumer intelligence, to proactively identify and evaluate content trends and opportunities for optimization

Deliver and conceive of macro-level content intelligence around key cross-company initiatives that span platforms (Linear & Streaming) as well as content genres (Entertainment and Sports), connecting the dots between consumer content preferences and business constraints

Partner with Strategy & Content Strategy teams on Content-focused thought leadership projects across Sports & Entertainment

Develop data-driven frameworks and proactive initiation of potential content optimization tradeoffs between genres, inclusive of Originals and Acquired titles across Linear & Streaming

Serve as a thought leader in understanding macro-level content and audience drivers to maximize Peacock Acquisition, Retention and Engagement

Analyze windowing efficacy and how content can best service Linear & Streaming audiences in an incremental and complementary manner

Initiate macro-level advance content analytical techniques in partnership with Content Science team to quantify incremental engagement and optimal content impact at a category/genre level

Project manage, seek alignment and build consensus among internal stakeholders for content-related strategic insights initiatives

Partner and build relationships with stakeholders, gaining a deep understanding of their business needs to deliver analyses that help inform their strategic decisions

Actively contribute to meetings and brainstorming sessions, and create compelling presentations supported by qualitative and quantitative storytelling

Identify growth opportunities on emerging platforms (e.g. FAST, social, short-form video) grounded in Bravo, NBC, and Peacock franchises/IP

Manage data-driven intelligence required to support executive presentation development and help build the appropriate narrative via data-informed insights across a variety of first and third party datasets

Be a member of a high-performing, highly collaborative analytics team that promotes a culture of data-driven decision-making across the NBCU organization

Supervise a team of two high-performing content analytics professionals (Sr Manager & Manager) who have expertise in both first and third party datasets

Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or other relevant quantitative fields (or equivalent experience)

8+ years experience in content analytics, using large data sets from a variety of first party and third party sources to extract actionable insights and drive strategy

5+ years of experience with querying and analyzing large complex data sets, data visualization, and data storytelling

4+ years of managerial experience in the analytics space

Expertise with analytical and data visualization tools (SQL, R, Excel, Python, Tableau or equivalent tools)

Knowledge and familiarity with Nielsen data essential

Self-starter with strong attention to detail, work ethic, sense of curiosity, accountability, and ability to execute projects of all sizes with vision and purpose

Deep strategic knowledge of media ecosystem as well as an understanding of entertainment industry trends and how they affect consumer behavior across multiple platforms (Linear, Streaming, FAST)

Strong business / financial acumen - ability to form judgments based on data and provide actionable recommendations

Strong communicator with executive presence, and ability to effectively present findings to peers, key stakeholders, and leadership

Ability to identify, distill, and articulate clear and actionable stories, insights and recommendations from a variety of data points and sources

Proficient in communicating complex ideas and data sets graphically in an effective way for senior-level executives

Excellent project management skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Big Query / Google technology stack or similar, a plus

Knowledge of data science techniques

Extensive experience building data-informed business cases

High proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and expertise in visualizing data in highly designed manners that are both visually stimulating and easy to understand

Background working closely with Strategy/Business Development, Content Strategy, and Finance counterparts

Additional Requirements

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, which currently requires contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Beginning January 5, 2026, hybrid employees will be required to work from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
