Job Summary
The Director of Health & Welfare Benefits is responsible for designing and delivering comprehensive programs and solutions with the goal of maximizing employee engagement to promote prevention, primary care and effective chronic condition management as an integral part of Versant’s overall health care benefits strategy. Responsibilities include leading the overall clinical engagement strategy for key health care programs to ensure seamless integration with Versant’s advocacy and navigation platform and ensuring future product development is aligned with Versant’s business objectives and workforce needs.
Works cross functionally across Versant Total Rewards strategic wellbeing pillars (physical, emotional and financial) to ensure alignment with Versant’s HR Operating Model and employee journeys. Effectively liaises with outside organizations, including consultants, benefit vendors, and legal counsel.
Core Responsibilities
Leads in the development of Versant’s health care clinical engagement strategy to drive greater usage of preventive and primary care services while identifying priorities for future clinical intervention based on Versant’s population health and cost drivers.
Oversees Versant’s primary care clinic strategy including demonstration of ongoing ROI/VOI for existing clinic locations and assessment of future clinic opportunities (virtual, onsite, near-site) for specific populations and/or locations.
Develops, implements and maintains a cadence for ongoing review of engagement and navigation services on an enterprise-wide basis for the purpose of continually refining processes and member care journeys.
Provides input and direction to existing service partners on strategic roadmap/product development to better support Versant’s business objectives.
Develops innovative approaches to expand and transform the engagement and cross utilization of benefits and services leading our health advocacy and navigation access platform.
Develops and recommends employee benefit changes to maintain external equities and effectively participates in employee communication/change management rollout.
Provides strategic relationship oversight of key vendor partners including clinic vendors and Versant’s health advocacy and navigation platform.
Analyze Versant health plan utilization to assess employee health outcomes and identification of future strategic priorities.
Collaborate on business case development for annual health plan strategic initiatives including integration requirements with Versant’s navigation resources.
Develop metrics and dashboards to monitor ongoing plan performance and engagement.
Collaborates on materials and discussions for governance meetings and approvals.
Oversees financial and ongoing administration related physical wellbeing programs and initiatives, including:
Budgeting and forecasting for key vendor partnerships and integration into broader multi-year forecasting of self-funded health care program costs and Long Range Planning.
Retains, negotiates, directs and manages benefit consultant(s) and service providers.
Partnering with communications team to develop and deliver effective employee communications and materials.
Partners across Total Rewards teams to deliver cohesive strategies/ recommendations, measure outcomes, and drive operational efficiencies.
Understands and communicates interdependencies of strategy across Total Rewards.
ROI/VOI of strategy.
Establish standards to potential alignment with international program offerings.
Supervisory responsibility for analyst supporting health care engagement strategy.
Participates at industry conferences and other peer company events, where appropriate.
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Subject to change based on Manager discussion or business need.
