Primary Purpose of Role
The Club Development Ambassador – Southeast Queensland plays a pivotal role in supporting the delivery and advancement of key elements of Football Queensland’s Strategic Plan, including coach, talent and club development.
The successful candidate will be based in Brisbane Metro or SEQ and will take a leading role in delivering enhanced technical services to clubs within the SEQ Conference. This includes responsibilities such as coach and talent identification, contributing to coach education and development, and increasing the technical knowledge of both coaches and players in club and Football Queensland programs.
The CDA will also be integral in driving the implementation of club development initiatives across SEQ. Football Queensland is committed to growing the sport by providing better opportunities for community-level coaches and aspirational players.
Key Responsibilities:
The principal areas of the role, include but not limited to:
• Plan, schedule, and drive club development programs to assess and enhance the coaching capacity within local clubs. Create a tailored improvement plan for each club to improve their coaching services.
• Assist clubs in identifying and upskilling suitable coaches with the necessary football knowledge, supporting their growth within the club environment.
• Oversee community-level coach education in the region, and contribute to advanced coaching courses (if qualified). Plan, prepare, and deliver programs that align with Football Queensland’s strategic goals and requirements.
• Fulfil Club Ambassador roles for the growing number of Tier 1 / Tier 2 FQ Academy League Clubs.
• Work to broaden the Coach Educator Tutor (CET) network by organising both formal and informal professional development opportunities for coaches in the region.
• Develop and manage a mentoring network for coaches, providing knowledge-sharing initiatives and post-course follow-up workshops to foster continuous improvement.
• Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with all relevant stakeholders, including club officials, administrators, and coaches ensuring clear and ongoing communication.
• Help plan and deliver Football Queensland events in SEQ, including but not limited to; Junior Cup, Winterfest and FQ State Championships, in collaboration with other staff members.
• Based on demand, assist with Football Queensland’s delivery in other regions, broadening the scope of impact.
• Contribute to quality control procedures, assisting in club assessments, coaching evaluations, and other program reviews in alignment with Football Queensland’s policies, principles and practices.
• Work closely with the technical department to review and refine coaching and playing pathways, ensuring alignment with Football Queensland’s performance goals in line with the Football Queensland Strategic Plan.
• Pay special attention to growth opportunities in women’s and girls’ football, contributing to the Gender Parity strategic goal and leaving a legacy for Australia following the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, and ahead of future international competitions, such as Brisbane Olympics 2032.
Key Performance Measures
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour Required
• AFC ‘B’ or ‘A’ Diploma in football coaching or Football Australia recognised equivalent.
• FA coach educator tutor experience (advanced instructor qualification is an advantage) or Teaching experience.
• Clear understanding of FA’s coach education system from a technical and administrative perspective.
• Football knowledge and playing/coaching experience.
• Experience working in the area of community and talented player/coach development
• Experience in the establishment and ongoing management of coach/athlete development programs
• Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills with the ability to plan, coordinate and execute tasks and projects through to completion whilst meeting deadlines, and balancing competing demands.
• Ability to work with limited direction to initiate procedures
• Adaptability, enthusiasm, and motivation with a “can do” attitude
• Can think strategically and encourage stakeholder collaboration
• High-level communication skills, particularly presentation skills and the ability to teach and inspire others
• Ability to mentor technical staff/coaches and provide them with leadership and direction.
The following skills and qualifications are desirable:
• Sports Management / Physical Education or other sport-related tertiary/university degree
• Experience in working with volunteers.
