Position Purpose: Assists Director of Pharmacy in managing clinical activities for patients in ambulatory care and transition of care areas. Supervises and manages pharmacists and technical staff in activities related to the delivery of clinical pharmacy services and assists in management of patient transitions to other levels of care; acts as a drug information resource to patients, medical staff, nursing staff and ancillary department staff.

Hours/Shift: Full-Time / FLSA Exempt

The Department: Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) is the sole community hospital. Our department encompasses over 60 employees to serve our population’s health. These are exciting, busy times in our Pharmacy as we provide a full suite of pharmacy care services from acute care and transitions into emergency services, ambulatory, home, and telehealth care areas. A solid infrastructure to support our pharmacy services is in place, with our current focus to optimize and integrate our services. These service focus areas include: Inpatient, Emergency Department pharmacist direct patient care, Care Transitions – medication reconciliation/meds to beds before hospital discharge, outpatient and specialty pharmacy drug distribution, 340B Program and financial integrity expansion, oncology clinical model expansion including oral chemotherapy and pharmacogenomics, PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program, Stewardship-Antimicrobial and Opioid, and expansion of our pharmacist collaborative practice model Disease Management Clinic. Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical & Patient Care
    • Provide direct patient care through medication management, consults, and interdisciplinary rounding
    • Optimize pharmacotherapy by reviewing medication regimens, labs, and clinical data
    • Monitor for drug interactions, contraindications, and therapy effectiveness
    • Support disease management and care transitions in ambulatory settings
    • Document clinical interventions and recommendations in the medical record
  • Leadership & Program Oversight
    • Lead and manage clinical pharmacy services, including ambulatory care and specialty areas (e.g., ID, oncology, pharmacokinetics, TPN)
    • Supervise pharmacy staff, support personnel, and clinical activities
    • Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and workflow to ensure appropriate coverage
    • Support recruitment, training, competency assessment, and staff development
    • Serve as a mentor, preceptor, and leader in professional development initiatives
  • Operations & Quality Improvement
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and regulatory standards (CMS, DNV, AZ Board of Pharmacy)
    • Participate in and lead quality improvement and performance initiatives
    • Oversee medication distribution processes and patient safety efforts
    • Manage reporting of adverse drug events and medication-related issues
  • Financial & Data Management
    • Monitor and manage departmental budgets, resources, and productivity
    • Lead pharmacoeconomic initiatives and identify cost-saving opportunities
    • Analyze and report clinical, financial, and quality outcomes data
  • Education, Research & Collaboration
    • Lead clinical education, staff training, and competency programs
    • Participate in hospital committees and interdisciplinary initiatives
    • Support residency programs (PGY-1) and student rotations
    • Contribute to research, publications, and professional presentations
 Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with Pharmacy Doctorate
  • Certification/Licensure: 
    • Licensed in the State of Arizona 
    • BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Experience: 
    • Completion of ASHP accredited ambulatory care residency or Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties Certification Ambulatory Care, or equivalent ambulatory clinical pharmacy care supervision experience will be considered. Total provision of ambulatory pharmaceutical patient care experience for at least four years is required.

Work Requirements: Ability to sit at a computer station approximately 50% of the time; stand and walk around 50% of the time; grasp, lift, reach, stoop, and repetitive movement; carry or lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds; feel, see, hear, smell, speak, and distinguish colors; perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods; work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff, handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule; set priorities and solve problems, and respond quickly to emergency requests and communicate effectively (orally and in writing). Category III: Expected duties do not have potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
