The Category Analyst helps drive the development of national retail accounts by supporting sales growth strategies through insightful analytics and shopper insights that enable mutually beneficial growth plans. The ideal candidate will have an advanced working knowledge of all data sources and tools needed to complete and present category and brand development projects. These data sources and tools include syndicated scan data (IRI/Nielsen), retailer transaction and loyalty data, BI reporting, Scintilla, Numerator, and similar platforms. This position will be responsible for reporting, JDA space management support, and will serve as the primary Category Management resource.
The role will work closely with the Category Development team, led by the Sr. Director of Category Development, as well as the Account Management team. It is primarily internally focused, with some limited customer-facing responsibilities.
Job Description
CUSTOMER ANALYSIS
Create persuasive sales presentations based on research and analysis to achieve category and brand objectives.
Develop sales materials, including sell sheets, to support the execution of category and brand strategies.
Design templates and executive summaries to analyze brand and market trends.
Identify opportunity gaps in volume, market share, pricing, promotion, shelf space, and product distribution.
Track, measure, and clearly communicate the results of in-store merchandising initiatives.
Demonstrate a research-oriented mindset, consistently seeking to understand how and why, and providing depth and insight to audiences.
Proven track record of building strong, successful customer relationships.
CATEGORY & BRAND ANALYTICS
Demonstrate a strategic, entrepreneurial mindset, with enthusiasm for launching and elevating the brand and category in a new trade channel.
Show strong analytical curiosity and a willingness to adopt and learn new methods of data analysis.
Use third‑party research tools (including Numerator, Mintel, Kantar, etc.) to inform and guide strategy for the channel and the category.
Collaborate with Shopper and Consumer Insights teams to identify key shopper segments and missions within the channel and at specific retailers.
Produce and interpret reports using syndicated and internal sales data to support Red Bull’s category development strategy.
Support team needs promptly and efficiently, demonstrating urgency, persistence, and a strong commitment to quality and customer service.
Qualifications
2–4 years of relevant work experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Strong storytelling skills using data, research, and analysis
Ability to present industry and category information in a way that builds rapport, persuades others, and clearly explains the business issue at hand
Broad general knowledge of the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, slicers, and formulas to automate and enhance reports; Tableau experience is a plus
Experience with JDA space planning software is a plus
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Self-starter; detail-oriented, highly organized, able to multitask, and able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Understands the importance of accuracy, timeliness, and responding with a sense of urgency when necessary
Enjoys working in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving role
Strong customer service orientation and experience working directly with retailers
Able to work effectively with all levels of the organization, from field staff to executive management

This position is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or individuals who are currently authorized to work in the United States on a valid visa.
The base salary range for this position is $72,000 - $108,000 + cash incentives. Actual salary offers may vary based on work experience. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified.
