About the Role

This role is a fixed-term 12-month parental leave cover contract. This position requires an enthusiastic and engaging educator who has a passion for utilising sport to create positive social impact. The role is responsible for the facilitation, continuous improvement and quality assurance of the Carlton Respects Road to Respect program and associated programs. Road to Respect is a free, digital-learning platform and face-to-face program for primary school students in Grades 3 to 6. The program encompasses relatable and easy-to-follow tools and information to help students challenge pre-existing gender stereotypes, manage emotions, build their communication skills and create positive, equal and respectful relationships.

This role will primarily be responsible for overseeing the bookings, delivery and quality of the program in Melbourne-based primary schools. In particular, the Carlton Respects Senior Educator will ensure schools have an engaging and memorable participation experience, providing students with the best opportunity to learn, engage and build their knowledge and awareness about each key lesson area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of the Road to Respect Program in Primary Schools.
  • Be the primary facilitator of Road to Respect, delivering the Carlton-led sessions in Melbourne based schools (around 2-3 days per week/60% of role).
  • Provide advice and direction for the continuous improvement of the Road to Respect Program.
  • Train and collaborate with staff and facilitators to support their delivery of the program when necessary.
  • Prepare and develop program content to ensure quality experience and useability for facilitators and schools, including online and physical resources to assist learning in classrooms.
  • Develop follow up content where applicable to encourage continuous learning.
  • Manage program operations from start to finish. Including initial outreach from both inbound interest and outbound advertising, scheduled meetings and calls to connect with teachers, suggesting ideal programming to meet the bespoke needs of schools to ensure highest quality delivery.
  • Create consistent school bookings well in advance for each term to ensure optimal reach and targets are achieved.
  • Collaborate with the Community Programs Coordinator to schedule and capture qualitative and quantitative results of the program.
  • Utilise and manage the Road to Respect CRM platform, Monday.com and facilitator booking platform Connecteam.
  • Assist with the delivery of the Road to Respect Schools Challenge, creating an engaging opportunity for primary schools to extend their learning beyond the classroom.
  • Support the development and implementation of the We Respect pilot program to help expand Road to Respect nationwide and across leagues.
  • Engage and maintain strong relationships with school leadership and classroom teachers to increase take-up and gain feedback on the program.
  • Ensure strong relationships are in place with ACHPER and other teaching organisations to maximise awareness of the program.
  • Maintain presence in all key sector networks to increase visibility of programming and expand collaborative partnerships, via connection with the Community Programs Manager.
  • Collaborate with the Community Programs Coordinator to ensure a consistent approach to planning, booking, implementation and monitoring of the Road to Respect program.
  • Manage casual facilitation staff to ensure they receive school booking details in advance and feel equipped to deliver Road to Respect sessions.

Experience, Skills and Attributes

  • Qualified teacher/educator with current accreditation with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (previous experience as a primary or high school teacher would be preferrable for this position).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of respectful relationships education curriculum and primary prevention of violence against women.
  • Outstanding teaching and education skills with the ability to effectively impart knowledge through contemporary education strategies and approaches.
  • Connection and ability to build relationships with local schools.
  • Ability to collaborate, communicate, and advise internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to critically analyse and suggest recommendations for program improvements.
  • Sound understanding of education systems and navigating communications to key personnel.
  • A sound level of competency for written and verbal communication and an intermediate level of computer literacy.
  • A passion for the primary prevention of violence against women through education of young people.
  • Ability to engage with young people and energetically facilitate an education session.
  • A positive professional and personal impact on others.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills and ability to take initiative to achieve a common outcome
  • A strong alignment with Carlton club values and purpose.
  • Proven ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Maintain appropriate professional conduct at all times, including ethics, child safety and confidentiality.
