BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Football Australia is growing and our Commercial team is on the hunt for a high-energy Business Development Executive to help drive the next phase of revenue growth. Supporting the Senior Business Development Manager, this role is focused on securing new commercial partnerships across some of the most powerful properties in Australian sport including the CommBank Socceroos, CommBank Matildas, Hahn Australia Cup, Australian Championship, Coles MiniRoos, and a range of new and emerging programs.

 

The role spans the full sales cycle: researching and identifying high potential categories and businesses, building compelling rights packages and sales materials, pitching to prospective partners, and contributing to negotiation and close. It requires close collaboration across the business and an enthusiasm and curiosity for understanding what prospective partners need. For an ambitious BDE, this is an opportunity to make a real impact on Football Australia’s commercial growth and help deliver the power of the Beautiful Game for current and future partners.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner closely with the Senior Business Development Manager to accelerate revenue growth and deliver against Football Australia’s annual commercial revenue targets
  • Create and pitch compelling, structured, long‑term partnership opportunities, developing tailored rights packages that excite brands and stand out in market across all Football Australia properties
  • Build high‑impact, insight‑led sales materials and multimedia presentations, using research and audience data to tailor propositions to priority categories and prospective partners
  • Manage the full sales cycle: researching, prospecting and lead generation, pitching and presenting, negotiating and contracting. Maintaining a strong pipeline and consistent reporting rhythm is a core part of the role
  • Actively track industry trends, market movements, and emerging commercial opportunities across multiple sectors
  • Collaborate proactively with Football Australia’s Digital Content, Marketing, Events, Community, Legal and Media teams to develop partnership opportunities and maximise commercial outcomes

  • Drive strong revenue growth through the sale of Football Australia’s commercial rights
  • Deliver against annual commercial revenue targets, contributing directly to team and organisational success

  • A proactively managed pipeline of new business leads, with regular reporting and clear conversion activity

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Around 3 years’ experience in a comparable commercial or business development role, ideally within sport or sponsorship
  • Strong attention to detail with a highly organised, methodical approach to problem‑solving
  • Comfortable presenting to mid‑to‑senior stakeholders and articulating data‑driven commercial proposals
  • Confident using Microsoft Office to develop professional sales collateral and presentations
  • Passionate about sales and relationship‑building, with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage an end‑to‑end sales cycle, from research and prospecting through to negotiation and close
  • Commercially savvy, with a strong understanding of brand consumerism and domestic and global sponsorship markets
  • Self-motivated and resilient, able to work autonomously, demonstrate initiative, and contribute positively to a high-performing team
  • A genuine advocate for the power of sport and entertainment to drive meaningful B2B and B2C marketing outcomes
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, video editing, sales software, and related tools a strong plus
  • Pre-existing commercial pipeline and relationships favourable

 

UNIQUECRITERIA

  • This role requires some weekend work around match days, as well as interstate travel for both match days and pitch meetings
