Monitoring & Supporting Academic Progress of Student-Athletes
Operations Responsibilities and Expectations:
Assist with all aspects of the national recruiting program that seeks student-athletes who are qualified academically, athletically and ethically
Manage team travel including inbound/outbound recruiting travel for prospective student-athletes
Serve as the liaison with opponents for the scheduling of practice times and fulfillment of contractual commitments to visiting teams.
Oversee and monitor game contracts
Coordinate all team apparel and equipment orders
Assist with student-athlete experience issues (i.e., Volunteer Opportunities, Senior Circle Brunch, Breakfast of Champions, etc.)
Fundraise for annual gifts to the Baseball Foundation account by soliciting parents, former student-athletes, and others for donations
Assist coaches with Camps and Clinics to be held during the summer and during winter break.
Budget and manage all pre- and post-game meals as well as travel meals, maximizing trade usage in concert with Sponsorship Sales Director
Budget and manage all visiting team hotel needs, maximizing trade, in concert with Sponsorship Sales Director
Assist in community involvement. Represent the University and the baseball program at professional meetings, alumni events, Privateer Scholarship Foundation (PSF) meetings and other events as necessary
Represent UNO in a positive manner at any events on or off campus
Employee shall at all times abide by rules and regulations of the NCAA Division I and Southland Conference with respect to the administration of the University 's athletic program
Employee shall at all times conduct themselves in an ethical manner in association with the standards set forth by NCAA and Southland Conference Bylaws and University policies and procedures
Moreover, the Assistant Baseball Coach will:
1. Continually promote the University’s mission, vision and accomplishments.
2. Accept and be attentive to the health and welfare of student-athletes as a primary responsibility.
3. Assist and support Head Coach with all areas of the baseball program.
4. Perform additional duties as assigned by Director of Athletics and/or Head Baseball Coach.
5. Maintain a current and comprehensive understanding of UNO, Southland Conference and NCAA rules & regulations.
Employee shall conduct himself/herself in an ethical manner in accordance with the standards established by the NCAA, University of New Orleans and the State of Louisiana.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree; 1-3 years professional experience as a high school, college or professional baseball coach or member of a college baseball coaching staff.
Thorough knowledge of and commitment to NCAA compliance and University of New Orleans policies and procedures.
Proven ability to build rapport and effective, collaborative relationships with student-athletes, fellow coaches, administration, faculty and alumni.
Demonstrated administrative, organizational and recruiting skills and applied experience in these areas.
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree; 2-4 years college baseball coaching experience.
