Job Description
The Assignment Assistant supports the sports department by coordinating information, assisting with daily coverage planning, and ensuring smooth communication between producers, reporters, and technical staff. This role is essential to maintain accurate, timely, and well-organized sports shows coverage.
Position Objective:
To support the sports team by ensuring assignments are accurately coordinated, information is clearly communicated, and coverage runs efficiently.
This is a project/limited term position, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.
Please note this role has been established on a temporary project basis.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the assignment manager with daily sports coverage planning
• Update sports assignments, events, and story developments
• Communicate assignment details to reporters, photographers, and editors
• Monitor sports schedules, press releases, and breaking news
• Maintain organized digital and physical records
Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
• Basic knowledge of sports and sports media is preferred
• Proficiency with computers and newsroom software
• Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines
• Professional demeanor and attention to detail
