Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

NBCU Local is reimagining storytelling for the next generation of local news watchers, delivering local content to English and Spanish-speaking audiences in 31 U.S. TV markets and Puerto Rico. We are comprised of NBC Owned Television Stations, NBC Sports Regional Networks and Telemundo Station Group – plus multicast networks COZI TV and TeleXitos, regional cable news network NECN, and 16 free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels – including 11 NBC local news, four Telemundo regional news channels.

The NBCU Local Technology & Operations organization provides the Technology & Workflow Solutions, Support, Media Operations, Production, Studio and Facilities services that power NBCU Local content creation and distribution.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a Director who is naturally curious and innovative. You will have the opportunity to join the creative production operations team of NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 as our newest Director working in our state-of-the-art facility, The NBCU Studios at DFW.

Our programming is authentic, interactive and informative and we need a Director who is creative, organized and motivated to create and lead the evolution of news production.

Job Responsibilities:

Coding and technical execution of news shows and programming utilizing the Ross Overdrive Automated Production Control environment.
Work closely and partner with the editorial team, from concept to final production of the show.
Direction of talent and other production crew members
Adhere to standards of best workflows and procedures
Automated graphic, audio, camera control and clip playback server operation
Responsible for the ultimate technical quality of productions

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years, medium to large sized market, local news TD/ Directing experience with Ross Overdrive Production Automation, or similar.

Desired Skills and Experience:

Bi-lingual English/Spanish oral proficiency a plus
Must have strong oral /written communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to work accurately under pressure and deadlines.
Must exhibit strong leadership skills
Have a positive and customer service-oriented attitude
Demonstrated ability to solve problems, prioritize decisions in a high-pressure environment
Believes that teams are smarter and more dynamic together
Self-motivated, highly creative
