The Vice President, Finance – Flag Football will serve as a key financial leader supporting a new, high-growth venture within our fast-scaling organization. This role is responsible for owning the financial health of our new Flag Football league, partnering closely with executive leadership and functional leaders to drive planning, performance management, and data-driven decision-making. This role reports to the Head of Flag Football and also has a dotted line to the Chief Financial Officer.
This opportunity is highly hands-on and operational, and would be ideal for a strategic yet detail-oriented leader who enjoys building financial models, processes, and reporting frameworks from the ground up. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguous fast-paced environments, brings strong analytical rigor, and can translate complex financial data into clear insights for senior leadership, investors, and the Board as the league scales.
Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with league and functional leaders to develop, manage, and refine operating budgets, capital investment plans, and rolling cash flow forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and growth objectives
- Own the full financial results for the Flag Football league, including end-to-end oversight of monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, financial statements, and management reporting, in coordination with corporate finance, accounting, and external partners as needed
- Lead budget-to-actual variance analysis and performance reviews, identifying key drivers, risks, and opportunities, and delivering clear, actionable recommendations to leadership to improve financial outcomes
- Serve as a strategic finance partner to the Head of Flag Football, providing detailed financial analysis, scenario modeling, and ongoing tracking of actual results against the original venture model, forecasts, and long-term business plan
- Develop and present high-impact financial materials for senior management, investors, and the Board of Directors, translating complex financial data into clear narratives that support decision-making and long-range planning
- Build and scale financial processes, reporting frameworks, and internal controls to support rapid growth, operational complexity, and long-term scalability, while maintaining financial discipline and transparency
- Collaborate on tax and technical accounting strategy
- 15+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, operational finance, or corporate finance, with increasing scope and ownership
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Proven owner of financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, and P&L results
- Advanced financial modeling and forecasting expertise, with strong scenario analysis and decision-support capabilities
- Demonstrated experience evaluating new initiatives and investments, driving growth through rigorous financial insight
- Exceptional executive-level communicator, with experience presenting complex financial narratives to senior leadership, investors, and/or Boards
- Trusted cross-functional partner who influences senior stakeholders through data, business judgment, and clear recommendations
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Comfortable operating in build-and-scale environments, balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution
Preferred:
- Experience supporting high-growth ventures, startups, or newly launched businesses
- Prior experience working closely with executive leadership and Boards of Directors, including preparation of board decks, investor updates, and long-range financial plans
- Background in building or scaling financial processes in a rapidly scaling environment
- Familiarity with league, team, or event-based business models
- MBA, CPA, CFA, or similar advanced degree or certification
