Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preps daily menu and daily specials. Assists in establishing appropriate pricing.
  • Receives and put away all food products in a timely manner.
  • Prepares and cooks daily menu, special and banquet items.
  • Assists Manager with interviewing, hiring, training and scheduling of part time cooks.
  • Reviews, enforces, and develops kitchen policies and procedures.
  • Assists Manager with monthly inventory. Assists with weekly food ordering.
  • Responsible for sanitation of kitchen, ensures health department requirements are adhered to, inspects condition and cleanliness of facilities, and requests necessary maintenance, repairs, and/or cleaning.
  • Assists with set-up, planning and serving of special events.
  • Serves as manager on duty when Food & Beverage Manager/Asst Food & Beverage Manager are not available.
  • Serves customers in dining area.
  • Restocks restaurant and bar with product.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.


Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age

Education:  High School Diploma or GED

Experience: At least 6 months cooking experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: One to two (1-2) years’ cooking experience preferred with a demonstrated commitment to quality food and beverage service 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of principles and practices in food and beverage operations.
  • Working knowledge of budgeting principles and practices.
  • Skill in leading and instructing others in a professional manner.
  • Skill in interacting with public/program participants in a professional manner.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of advisory data and information, such as Town and Parks and Recreation policies and procedures, vendor catalogs, and Town Employee handbook.
  • Ability to accurately perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; ability to calculate decimals and percentages; ability to utilize principles of fractions; ability to interpret graphs.
  • Ability to exercise proper independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution.
  • Ability to understand verbal information and instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand written material.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and coworkers in a professional manner.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and useful records.

Physical Demands:

  • Moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving  lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials up to 50 pounds 
  • Ability to stand for periods of four or more hours 
  • Frequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching, crawling, and/or twisting  
  • Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate tools and electrical equipment as well as for driving equipment and vehicles
  • Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
  • Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens

Work Environment:

  • Kitchen environment with exposure to heat, noise, smoke, and grease

Equipment Used:

  • This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment

 

  Must satisfactorily complete a driving record check and criminal background check prior to commencing employment.
