Job Description Summary

Organizational Summary Statement:
The newly renamed Schanwald Sports Management Program is an interdisciplinary experiential undergraduate learning program, facilitated by the Robert H. Smith School of Business in partnership with the School of Public Health's Department of Kinesiology, the Philip Merrill College of Journalism's Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism, and Maryland Athletics. The Schanwald Sports Management Program is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of sports industry leaders through immersive experiential learning and transformative education. It aims to develop leaders equipped with the skills, foundational knowledge, and educational opportunities to pursue careers and professional opportunities in the sports industry.

Position Summary:
Candidates are expected to teach undergraduate classes in marketing, sports management, and sports marketing, in courses such as marketing principles and strategy, sports marketing research and analytics, digital marketing, consumer behavior, and integrated marketing communications. Candidates are expected to commit to mentoring undergraduate students in experiential projects and internships in the sports industry.

Minimum Qualifications:
All applicants are expected to demonstrate outstanding teaching skills across various subject areas in marketing and have teaching and/or work experience in Sports Management.  

Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a terminal degree in a related field (Ph.D. or Ed.D. is preferable) with relevant teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Prior successful teaching in a top-ranked business school is preferred and experience in senior leadership roles in sports management is valued.
