JOB SUMMARY: Multisport Officials will provide support for various facility-operated basketball and volleyball programs. This position is not eligible for remote work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
GAME OFFICIAL (ALL PROGRAMS)
· Enforce all rules and regulations to ensure fair and consistent game play
· Maintain control of games through proper positioning, calls, and communication
· Promote a safe environment by identifying and addressing unsafe behavior
· Communicate clearly and professionally with players, coaches, and spectators
YOUTH PROGRAMS OFFICIAL (FUTURE STARS)
· Explain all rules and gameplay in an engaging, age-appropriate manner
· Oversee player safety and sportsmanship and intervene as necessary
· Provide constructive feedback to participants while maintaining game flow
COMPETITIVE OFFICIAL (DSMBL & ADULT LEAGUES)
· Consistently recognize and call violations and infractions
· Manage competitive game environments in a professional manner
· Address unsportsmanlike conduct promptly and effectively
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Follow and enforce all facility policies and procedures
· Communicate effectively with staff and patrons
· Understand emergency procedures for equipment and evacuation of the building
· Provide facility management with any participant or spectator complaints or concerns
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must have a strong understanding of basketball and/or volleyball rules
· Prior experience as an official or referee strongly preferred
· Competitive Officials must be 18 years of age or older
· Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and patrons
· First aid, CPR, and AED training is a plus
· Ability to follow all facility rules, policies, and procedures
· Must be able to stand, walk and run for extended periods
· Ability to work flexible hours; evenings and weekends are integral to this position
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an office and court environment, with noise levels usually moderate to quite loud.
