About the role
 

We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join our Legal team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role has a key focus on advising on Technology, Privacy, AI and Data Governance (including spam compliance), along with broader legal matters across Tennis Australia and its Member Associations, supporting Tennis’ position as a global leader in events and entertainment.
 

In this role you will:

  • Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice across technology, privacy, AI and data governance, translating legal requirements into clear guidance for stakeholders
  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of legal documents, including commercial contracts, policies and key correspondence
  • Monitor regulatory developments and proactively advise the organisation on emerging legal risks, compliance obligations and best practice
  • Partner with business teams to support strategic projects, commercial initiatives and day-to-day decision-making
  • Develop and maintain organisational policies, precedents and processes, driving continuous improvement and automation where possible
     

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience advising on technology, privacy, AI and data governance matters including Spam Compliance
  • Approximately 3+ years’ post-admission experience, ideally gained in a commercial law firm or in-house environment
  • Strong legal capability, including sound judgement, drafting, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and build trusted relationships
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the resilience to manage competing priorities
  • Strong digital capability, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence using AI tools and new systems
  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check
  • Preparedness to be flexible in regard to working hours and arrangements relating to work associated with Tennis Australia
