Reports to: Youth Program Director

Summary/objective

The Hockey Coach teaches age-appropriate skill concepts and game strategies while emphasizing fair play. The Hockey Coach works with children of different ages and ability levels ensuring a safe, fun environment.

Essential functions

  • Teach fundamental playing rules, strategies and playing tactics
  • Ensure a safe fun teaching environment
  • Be responsible for team equipment
  • Communicate with participants and/or parents regarding practice schedule
  • If unable to work, proactively seek substitutes for your shift and immediately inform supervisor of the substitution
  • Be in proper Coach/Instructor uniform at all times while at work and always present the acac brand and standard anytime and anywhere the acac uniform is worn
  • Ensure ongoing familiarity with acac programs to manage questions and communicate knowledgeably to acac members and guests
Requirements

Physical demands

  • Must be able to successfully instruct and demonstrate proper playing techniques
  • Must be able to actively participate in practice

Required competencies, education, and experience

  • Minimum 18 years of age and one year of coaching at any level
  • High School diploma preferred
  • Genuine interest in coaching children
