Position Title: Middle School Girls Basketball Coach
Reports To: Building Principal / Athletic Director

 

Position Summary:

The Middle School Girls Basketball Coach is responsible for fostering the development of student-athletes by promoting a high level of basketball skill, discipline, sportsmanship, and self-confidence. The coach serves as a mentor, leader, and positive role model, helping students grow both on and off the court.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Program Leadership & Administration

  • Collaborate with the Athletic Director to oversee all aspects of the girls basketball program.

  • Uphold and implement the philosophy, policies, and procedures outlined in the BNL Athletic Coaches Handbook.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship within the basketball program, fostering a culture of teamwork and integrity.

  • Serve as a positive role model in all interactions—on the court, in school, and in the community.

  • Maintain a high level of knowledge in coaching techniques, rules, event procedures, and the sport’s evolving standards.

  • Foster positive relationships with coaches, athletic staff, and student-athletes to support healthy competition.

  • Assist the Athletic Director in developing the game schedule and managing facility use.

  • Coordinate travel arrangements and supervision for away contests in accordance with district policies.

Supervision & Staff Coordination

  • Oversee and evaluate assistant and volunteer coaches.

  • Assign responsibilities to coaching staff and ensure alignment with program goals.

Records & Communication

  • Maintain accurate rosters and submit updates to the Athletic Office.

  • Track and report team statistics, records, and seasonal results.

  • Facilitate clear communication with parents, school officials, and the public regarding program updates and events.

  • Coordinate the recognition of athletes through awards and special events.

  • Complete and submit all required IHSAA and HHC documentation.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and valid teaching license preferred.

  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

  • Prior coaching and/or teaching experience is desirable.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to student development and athletic excellence.
