Job Description:

The Assistant Men's Basketball Coach supports all aspects of the LSU Men's Basketball program in a highly competitive and evolving collegiate athletics landscape. Responsibilities include on-court coaching, student-athlete development, recruiting and transfer portal evaluation, academic support, NIL education within institutional guidelines, and collaboration with support units such as analytics, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, and creative media. The Assistant Coach contributes to fostering a championship-level program grounded in student-athlete well-being, competitive excellence, integrity, and the values of LSU Athletics.

The Assistant Head Men's Basketball Coach supports all aspects of the LSU Men's Basketball program in a highly competitive and evolving collegiate athletics landscape. Responsibilities include on-court coaching, student-athlete development, recruiting and transfer portal evaluation, academic support, NIL education within institutional guidelines, and collaboration with support units such as analytics, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, and creative media. The Assistant Head Coach contributes to fostering a championship-level program grounded in student-athlete well-being, competitive excellence, integrity, and the values of LSU Athletics.

50% Provide on-court coaching, position-specific instruction, and developmental guidance to student-athletes, using modern teaching techniques, video technology, sports science insights, and performance analytics. Support student-athlete academic progress and well-being by collaborating with the Cox Academic Center for Student-Athletes and campus support units.

25% Participate in all recruiting activities, including identification, evaluation, on-campus visits, and communication with prospects, families, high school coaches, and transfer portal student-athletes. Utilize film systems, analytics, and recruiting databases to assess talent and identify prospects that align with program needs and LSU Athletics values.

15% Assist with game planning, opponent analysis, and practice structure development using film analytics systems, scouting reports, and staff collaboration. Support in-game adjustments and situational decision-making as assigned by the Head Coach.

5% Represent LSU Men's Basketball at donor events, alumni functions, media opportunities, and community engagements; Maintain a professional and positive public presence consistent with LSU values.

5% Advances and supports LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through personal participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as participation in the creation of an respectful culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with three years experience coaching basketball at the high school, collegiate or professional level; Knowledge and commitment to NCAA rules and regulations.

Special or Physical Requirements

Ability to work extended days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Travel is required.
