Description     Red Tail Golf Club located in Devens, MA is looking for a dedicated and experienced Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the management and maintenance of our golf course. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent’s responsibilities include assisting in the supervision and training of staff, inspection and maintenance of equipment, implementing safety procedures, managing irrigation, turf maintenance, and applying of fertilizers and pesticides as directed by the Superintendent. Knowledge of golf course operations and maintenance practices is essential for this role. Our ideal candidate has experience in a management role, a passion for golf, excellent problem-solving abilities, and strong leadership skills. 
Responsibilities Assist in the planning and execution of golf course maintenance and construction workAssist in the maintenance and repair of golf course equipmentTrain, supervise and schedule staff membersAssist with calibration of all fertilizer and pesticide application equipmentSafe application of chemicals and fertilizer as directed by the SuperintendentImplement and enforce comprehensive safety program for employees, members and guests on course in compliance with local, state, and federal lawsAssist in all turf maintenance planning, including cultural practices, irrigation, fertilizing, and disease preventionCoordinate with the Golf Course Superintendent to ensure the course is ready for playMaintain accurate records of all applications, maintenance activities, and costs

Golf Course Superintendent

All employees of the Maintenance Department 



Requirements

  

  • Proven experience as an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent or similar role
  • Knowledge of golf course maintenance and turf management
  • Must have the ability to follow and give verbal and written instructions.
  • Must have the ability to perform mathematical calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Must have the ability to supervise employees.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret information from technical sources.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally with golfers.
  • Must have the ability to inspect all work spaces, golf course, and grounds.
  • Must have the ability to stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, bend and kneel for five hours at a time without sitting.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
  • Understanding of the use and maintenance of irrigation systems
  • Familiarity with the safe application of pesticides and fertilizers
  • Excellent leadership and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management or a related field is  referred
  • Must have or have the ability to obtain MA Applicators license
  • Valid driver's license

Working Conditions

Outdoor setting, with significant time spent on the golf course. This role requires physical labor and the ability to work in all weather conditions.
