Assistant Football Coach

 

Job Overview

This position reports to the Offensive or Defensive Coordinator. This person will operate with a committed understanding that in the pursuit of athletic excellence, we seek to develop students for Christian life and service. This full-time position pays in the $34,000 - $35,500 range.

 

Duties

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Coaching Leadership 
    • Serve as position coach
    • Assist with developing game plan
    • Assist defensive coaching staff in practice planning, instructing, and reviewing practice video
    • Comply with the mission and vision of Wheaton College; adhere to all College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and NCAA rules and regulations
    • Assist in scouting of opponents and preparation of scouting reports to team

 

Secondary Responsibilities

  1. Spiritual Leadership
    • Encourage and develop personal relationships with student-athletes
    • Encourage a holistic environment for the well-being of student-athletes
    • Serve as a consistent role model and resource for student-athletes
  2. Administrative Leadership
    • Assist with all aspects of the recruiting process including evaluation of prospects, visit coordination, and ongoing recruiting communication (i.e. calls/texts/mailings)
    • Assist in monitoring team standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Collegiate playing experience 
  • Strength and Condition Certification
  • Experience in coaching at the college level preferred

 

Physical Requirements

The person in this position must be able to drive/transport athletes; set up and take down football equipment; and to lift, move, and carry up to 25lbs.

 

FLSA Status ‐ Full-Time Exempt (1.0 FTE status)
