Basic Job Function:
The 2nd Assistant Superintendent will manage the Spray Program and will be responsible for the inventory of chemicals and fertilizer applications, record keeping duties and assist in the supervision of the crew. Promote the Sea Island legacy of warm genuine hospitality. Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum one (1) year experience in golf maintenance
• Two (2) to four (4) year degree in turf grass management or comparable field of study
• Experience in supervising personnel preferred
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Must possess or be able to attain a Georgia Pesticide Applicators license within 120 days of being hired
• Basic knowledge of Windows XP and Microsoft Office software applications such as: Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Proficient with peripherals, copier, fax, telephone and calculator
• Proficient with a variety of riding and power driven machinery and equipment
• Proficient with power hand tools and manual hand tools
• Proficient with a variety of turf care related chemicals and application equipment
• Experience with motorized carts

Tasks/Responsibilities:
• Manages the Spray Program for two (2) golf courses and the Learning Center
• Maintains inventory of chemicals and fertilizers
• Keep records of all chemical and fertilizer applications
• Supervises crew members during projects
• Assist in evaluating performance, setting goals and taking corrective actions when necessary to hold employees accountable
• Assist in training all employees
• Ensuring that training goals are met and records are accurately maintained
• Diagnosing quality issues and reporting to leaders to ensure the necessary steps to improvement are taken
• Determines work priority and assigns workers to specific tasks, such as fertilizing, irrigation, seeding, mowing, raking and spraying
• Assists the Superintendent and Assistants with monitoring the golf courses and prioritizing specific tasks to be accomplished daily
• Regulating proper use and reporting misuse of equipment by employees
• Assist and partner with the Security department in maintaining Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standards
• Handling chemicals safely following all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) procedures
• Responsible for maintaining current MSDS files
• Responsible for training and evaluating staff knowledge on current MSDS for chemicals used in their area
• Communicates and enforces safe work practices to personnel
• Learn the names and personally recognize our regular Guests and Members
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of current guest services, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island and the surrounding area to answer any questions guests may have to the best of one’s ability
• If applicable, complete a Guest Problem Resolutions (GPR) form on any issues (solved or unsolved issues) and follow-up on issues as needed (if computer access is not available give information to admin support)
• Maintains cleanliness and organization in all work areas
• Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing
• Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures
• Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately
• Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
• Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated by leadership
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods
• Must have the ability to work for extended time periods in an outdoor environment, including sun, heat, cold, wind, rain, and higher than normal noise levels
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy
• Ability to lift, carry, pull and push up to 75 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
• May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical and fume hazards
• No visible tattoos, visible body piercing or unnatural hair color or hairstyles per company grooming standards
